Lincoln's World Championship Swimmers Return Home

Sofia and Niharika returned to Lincoln School this week after representing their country, Nepal, at the 12th FINA Short-Course World Swimming Championships in Doha. Sofia Shah competed in the 50m and 100m freestyle events clocking a 29.75 and 1.03.88 respectively. The latter was a new PB for her, lowering her own national record. Niharika also had a fantastic meet and learning experience. The 14-year-old swimmer competed in her first world championships and swam personal best times in both her events - the 50m and 100m breaststroke. Her 50 meter time, a 38.56, is also a new national record. Oshina Bharati was also in Doha for a training camp conducted by some of the world's top swimming coaches, including 4-time Olympic Gold Medalist, Missy Franklin. Coach Luke Davis, who also traveled with the swimmers said, "This was an incredible experience for our Snow Leopard Swimmers. Inspired by the elite athletes around them, I am confident they will continue to work hard and improve. We are hoping that our new swimming pool at Lincoln will churn out some more wonderful swimmers, as well as simply teach our students how to have fun and be safe in the water."
