LS Swimmers Return from World Championships!

On December 2rd, Niharika Tuladhar, Sofia Gadegaard Shah and I, Shreetika Singh, were given an amazing, never-to-be-forgotten opportunity to travel to Windsor, Canada and represent Nepal in the 13th FINA World Championships. I swam the 50 and 100 Freestyle events and Niharika swam the 50 and 100 Breaststroke races, while Sofia participated in the 50, 100 and 200 meter freestyle. Getting the opportunity to meet and swim with some of the greatest swimmers in the world was a dream come true. However, this was also a trip filled with national records and personal bests. Niharika broke both the 100 and 50 breaststroke national records, swimming a 37.94 for the 50 breast and a 1:25.32 for the 100. The competition lasted for five days and all five days were exciting, as we warmed up amongst some of the world's top swimmers and witnessed a few world records. This has inspired us swimmers to be even more dedicated to this amazing sport.

Fall Festival

On October 27th, Middle School Students participated in the Fall Festival which integrated Art, Music, and Language Arts projects into one wonderful exhibit in The Gallery.

Grade 6:
In Language Arts students studied characterization in various texts and forms of media.  They created a villain and brought it to life using the 5 aspects of characterization. In Visual Art, students created aluminum foil and paper mache sculptures to bring their Language Arts villains to life. In Music, students completed their musical literacy unit and began an instrumental unit.
Grade 7:
In Language Arts, students explored different types of emotions and fears, writing a personal story called a vignette about a time they felt fear. In Visual Art, students created villains and the environment they live in with oil pastels. In Music, students composed melodic themes with consonance and dissonant themes that represented their projects in Visual Art and Language Arts.
Grade 8:
In Language Arts students created their own dystopian society through studying Ayn Rand's Anthem. In Visual Art, students expressed their fears and phobias through linoleum printmaking. In Music, students composed background tracks to represent their print making with music technology software, instruments, and synthesizers.
High School Art  featured observational anatomical drawings of the human skeleton in the foyer.

Lincoln Reach NISSA Girls' Basketball Finals!

Our Lady Leopards had a stellar day in the Snow Leopard's gym in the LS hosted NISSA Girls' Basketball Final 4, heating up the floor with the some tenacious hustle, fighting spirit and sizzling baskets. In our semi-final match up against Rato Bangala, the girls took an early lead and did not look back with a 33-8 win. Especially pleasing was the manner of the defensive performance, with our goals dominating the boards and forcing a number of turnovers that were capitalized on with some slick shooting and fast breaks. In the other semi-final, KISC defeated TBS to set-up what would be fascinating final between two different, but closely contested teams.

In the final, the Snow Leopards took an early lead, showing great composure with the ball, and more tough defending. However, despite having a strong lead at half-time, the girls got into some foul and injury trouble, which shifted momentum KISC's way. The girls fought hard, but eventually went down 32-27. It was a great learning experience for our Snow Leopards, who will no doubt learn from the experience and come back stronger.
