Girls' Reach Finals of NISSA Volleyball Tournament!

In this year's NISSA Girls’ Volleyball Tournament, our young girls team improved immensely over the course of the day. Despite missing a few players due to injury and sickness, the girls pushed through and gave their best in every game.The long day began with a game against one of our rival schools, The British School, which we won two sets to none. Soon after, with little time to rest, we played against a local team from Valley Public School. We thought this would be a quick and easy win, but we lost the first set and came back to win the second and third sets to ensure our place in the finals. The team then rested and ate lunch before playing their hardest competition yet. It was an intense first set that eventually ended with a score over 25 points. Although we played extremely well, we lost the first and second set to the Jawalakhel Club team. Even though we didn’t win our third game, we would still advance and play one more game against the same team that beat us the game before. As game time arrived, the team got pumped and became mentally prepared for our final game. It was hard fought, but in the end fate was against us. Losing both sets 25-23 and 25-12. Although we didn’t take gold, this tournament has helped each player individually and has helped prepare our Lady Leopards for SAISA this year.

7th Grade Art Class

For the past month, seventh grade students have split their class time between art and music. We began the school year with an integrative art and music lesson, based on work by the German expressionist Wassily Kandinsky. We proceeded with some sketching activities to exercise the students’ creative thinking skills. Snow Leopards Make Waves in Nisarga Pool!

Eight young and committed Lincoln School swimmers participated in the Nisarga Bal Batika Swim Gala on Saturday, September 3rd. The rain did not dampen their Snow Leopard spirits and each swimmer produced amazing results and some personal best times. Although we brought a smaller group of swimmers to this meet, some outstanding individual displays helped earn our school a 2nd place overall finish. Many swimmers swam personal best times. Below are the top 3 places some Snow Leopards placed during the meet. 

Congratulations to Nasir Hussain, Lily Nathan, Clara Nathan, Runheng Liu (our youngest swimmer), Ashwini Shrestha, Atreya Koirala, Rishika Singh (her first meet), and Parthav Singh on their efforts and successes!

Boys' Volleyball Team Win Local Tournament

A Recap of the Boys' Volleyball Exploits at NISSA:

After a long and strenuous afternoon of volleyball, the Lincoln Boys' Volleyball team brought home the gold in the local NISSA tournament. The games were off to an early start as the Snow Leopards faced The British School in an early 9 AM match. Although it was the first game this season, the boys came together well as they defeated TBS comfortably 2 sets to 0. The day continued with the Snow Leopards facing the Little Angels School in their second game. Definitely the most fervent, the Snow Leopards lost the first set but made a 24-19 comeback, to win the second. In an unfortunate turn of events, victory over L.A. remained just out of grasp - but only by the skin of their teeth. Though recording a loss, the boys felt the results was quite positive; a game against such eminent opponents only helped gel the team further. The challenge unified the team, exposing strengths and weaknesses to be addressed in future practices.

Going into the next game ready to redeem themselves, the Snow Leopards defeated the Valley Public Higher Secondary School. Taking into consideration everything they learned from the previous game, the boys pushed hard and won the third set to proceed to the finals. Exhausted in body but not spirit, Lincoln, once again, encountered VPS in the finals of the NISSA tournament. With every bump, set, and spike executed with expertise and determination, the Lincoln Snow Leopards triumphed in the third set to take the win. The Lincoln School Snow Leopards took first place after an afternoon of exciting volleyball. Not bad for the first competition of the year. Looks like there’s a lot to look forward to this volleyball season!

First Fabulous Friday!

This week's snapshot comes from our first Fabulous Friday! G5 put on a lively and upbeat presentation of their version of This Land is My Land.

The G5 students along with the direction of Ms. Iris rewrote the song to have a more global perspective which includes the chorus of:

We learn from each other at Lincoln Elementary

We come together from far and wide

Our school is made for you and me...

As global citizens themselves, they enthusiastically sang out and entertained the audience. It was a great example of one of our four Lincoln School Pillars:Global Citizenship.

Fabulous Fridays will be happening once every month at 8:00am and parents are invited and encouraged to join us. The next Fabulous Friday will be September 23, 2016. Hope to see you there!

Activities, Athletics & Aquatics Update

Greetings Snow Leopards!

Our Activities, Athletics and Aquatics program has gotten off to a flying start. Almost all our students are engaged in pursuing one of their passions after school. If you missed signing up for an activity, or joined school late, and would like to know what is on offer, please visit: www.lsasa.weebly.com

In Elementary and High School PE classes, students are engaged in swimming and water safety lessons, as they try to check off the outcomes that will see them move to a higher cap.

Designing and doing experiments in 10th grade Chemistry

AP Physics entertains

While conducting an AP Physics lab on the basketball court last week, it also became entertainment for some of the elementary students.

Art class

Middle school students studied the art of Wassily Kandinsky and participated in an integrative art and music lesson. They listened to compositions by two different musicians and transformed the sounds they heard into shapes, lines and colors by using chalk pastels on paper. 

New instruments

Visual and Performing Arts Department is excited to receive over 40 brand new instruments! Advanced Music Performance begins Monday August 22nd with these instruments going right into students' hands! Come see the new renovations in the art and music rooms!
